Fun. Enlightenment. Service.
The Triangle Women’s Initiative for Leadership and Learning is a service organization founded in February 2011 by a small group of design professionals. TWILL is dedicated to helping and supporting women in the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area by providing volunteer services to select individuals or groups as well as hosting classes, seminars, and events to educate and enrich the lives of women in the community.
The brainchild of lighting designer Linda Anderson of Lighting Language and Design, the group was initially conceived to be a gathering of like-minded designers and artists to come together to talk about art, design, and professional matters of particular importance to women in the design world. As more members joined the group, it became apparent quickly that the group wanted to do more than just talk about design. We wanted to serve. More specifically, we wanted to serve other women and provide a network of support and friendship.
The group has since recruited members from other professions to supplement our knowledge base and talent pool outside of design. We are still growing and developing slowly, getting to know each other, and trying to find our identity as a group. We still talk about design. Membership is by invitation only.
TWILL is actively seeking individuals, women-owned businesses, and local charities or non-profit organizations to donate our time and diverse talents. If you would like to be considered for one of our volunteer projects, please contact us at twillwomen@gmail.com.
